The new year is always a time for new beginnings and a fresh start. This morning I woke up to a beautiful morning of blue skies and snowy fields, and it was a perfect day to ring in the new year.
I love to travel to far off and exotic places, but sometimes home has its own rewards. I don’t grab my camera enough as I go about my day, but times like this inspire me to pursue my love of photography, causing me to slow down and reflect on the beauty of my own back yard.
When springtime comes, the birds are feathering their nests in the birdhouses, and it isn’t too long after the little birds start to chirp, the beginning of a new life. For them, it truly is a new year. In a few months, they take the leap of faith and leave the nest, and their life becomes their own.
Sometimes we need to look at our life with the chance for new beginnings, not just during the New Years celebration, but those times when you feel both inspired or lost.
All it takes is a simple step forward and tell yourself “I’ve got this.” There is nothing like joining the rest of the world and doing a reset where optimism replaces pessimism.
As I write this, I look out the window and see a Blue Jay and out on the fence post, waiting for the finches to get their fill of birdseed. Their patience will be rewarded; soon the night will fall. They have nothing to rely on but themselves. Their preparation cannot give way to rationalization or regrets, only by stepping forward can they flourish.
They choose to sit on top of the fence, not letting it hold them in.
Only mental boundaries will restrain you in this upcoming year.
Clear your mind and see all that is front of you. Don’t let the barrier stop you, go over, under or through it.
Take that one step forward.
